Social and Legal Counselling
Many organizations offer a basic free-of-charge service where they can help you with questions in the field of law - they can discuss your problem with you and the way forward. Some of them work specificaly with foreigners:
- SIMI (Association for Integration and Migration) - legal counselling, social counselling
- CIC (Centre for Integration of Foreigners) - social couselling
- ICP (Integration Center Prague) - counsulting services
Then there is for example (make sure beforehand that they provide the service in English / your language / offer translation; or bring some Czech speaking friend with you):
- The Student Legal Advice Centre, in cooperation with the City of Prague
- Citizen Advice Offices
- Legal advice is also provided by individual municipalities, towns and city districts - if necessary, look on the website of the municipal office / city district office.
For more information on the various options for free legal advice, click HERE or visit JUSTICE.cz.
Use discretion when choosing the person/organisation to whom you entrust your problem. Always find out in advance what you are entitled to, what the conditions and cost of the service are (free advice may only cover certain areas), what documents you need to bring, etc.
If you are considering a representation by an attorney, look exclusively on the website of the Czech Bar Association. Anyone who is not listed on this website (and therefore registered) is not authorised to act as a lawyer. In some cases you are also entitled to free legal representation/advocacy.
