Studying at an international high school, the Prague University of Economics and Business and then at Oxford gave Aldar an excellent knowledge of languages and contacts with people from all over the world. An international environment is still important to him today. In a five-year career at the international company Honeywell, he has worked from a starting position as a commercial real estate analyst up to a global management position. He has been responsible for complex project planning and building strategies around the world.
A year ago Aldar and his best friend started their own small development and construction company. Together they built the company completely from the ground up - creating a corporate identity, setting up internal processes and recruiting staff. Aldar is currently in charge of financial planning, contract management, the HR agenda, coordinating marketing activities, which includes working with the sales team, and also participating directly on construction sites during inspection days. "The overlap is enormous and it is one advantage of small companies - you get to experience much, much more than in large companies where people tend to be highly specialised."
Aldar would like to help students build their own confidence. "There are a lot of students who have potential, great skills, can achieve a lot, but just often don't believe in themselves. For example, they don't believe in applying to a prestigious university or they don't believe in getting a job. It's all in the head, and if I could ever help someone build confidence in themselves, that would be a huge personal achievement for me. That's the only way our society can move forward - if people are able to believe in themselves so that they can fulfill their plans and dreams." In addition, Aldar has always had a few mentors around him - mostly older friends he looks up to.
