School Laboratory Technician - Prague British International School, s.r.o.

SCHOOL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

The Prague British International School is looking for a full time Lab Technician. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible to the Head of Science. The Laboratory Technician will be expected to perform general managerial duties and particular tasks in order to establish and maintain a high quality level of technical support for the department.

Starting date: 23rd August 2021

Place of work: PBIS, Prague 4

The job will include:

• Preparation of Science equipment/ resources based on teacher requests
• Transporting equipment between classrooms
• Liaising with academic staff to discuss equipment requirements
• Ensuring that equipment is properly cleaned and that chemicals and other materials are appropriately stored
• Updating the inventory of available chemicals and equipment in the labs
• Managing the stock control and ordering of chemicals and equipment
• Being responsible for the disposal of chemical waste
• Running trials of some experiments prior to classes
• Setting up and clearing practical equipment
• Cleaning of equipment
• General Science lab maintenance
• Servicing electrical equipment
• Advising teaching staff on the best use of equipment/ resources
• Routine maintenance of science equipment
• Ordering equipment/ resources from suppliers
• Ensuring health and safety standards are met when using Science equipment

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, willing to learn, resilient, and able to work alongside a dedicated team of teachers and other professionals.
