Adam je vědec, (ne)úspěšný startupista, business developer a zakladatel švýcarské neziskovky. Hned v prvním ročníku studia analytické chemie na Masarykově univerzitě se začal věnovat výzkumu – měřil pomocí zobrazovací hmotnostní spektrometrie těžké kovy v tasemnicích. Při stáži v Německu se věnoval víc biologii a analýze neuropeptidů v myších mozcích pomocí MALDI. Touha po poznání světa ho na 7 let zavedla do Švýcarska, kde během doktorátu publikoval 10 odborných prací, naučil se rozumět jiné mentalitě a uvědomil si vlastní sebehodnotu.
 
„Je úžasné, jak jsme každý jiný a máme jinou cestu.“ Ne vždycky je ale jednoduché ji najít a vytrvat, a se svými zkušenostmi vám rád pomůže najít vaši cestu po studiu, ať už povede na zahraniční univerzitu, do korporátu, anebo chcete založit vlastní start-up.

Pavla si původně myslela, že bude vědkyní. Vystudovala klinickou biochemii a učitelství chemie na VŠCHT a dokončila Ph.D. v oboru neurovědy na 3. lékařské fakultě Univerzity Karlovy.
Během Fulbrightovy stáže v USA ale zjistila, že místo bádání v laboratoři a „hledání léku na Alzheimera“ se chce více věnovat komunikaci vědy. Nyní působí jako vědecká novinářka na volné noze, nejčastěji píše pro magazín WIRED.CZ a spolumoderuje pořad Žárovky na Českém rozhlase Dvojka. 
Letos jí vyšla kniha Neviditelné ženy ve vědě, která obsahuje dvanáct inspirativních rozhovorů s českými vědkyněmi a mnoho zajímavostí a dat třeba o tom, jak ženy byly často „neviditelné“ i pro samotné výzkumy. 
Vědu komunikuje i na sociálních sítích, píše newsletter a je spoluautorkou první knihy o komunikaci vědy v češtině. V roce 2024 získala vládní cenu za komunikaci vědy.

I’m Sheba Sunny Marottickal, an aspiring food scientist and Erasmus Mundus Fellow whose journey has been driven by curiosity, resilience, and a passion for connecting science with people. Originally from India, my path has taken me across continents, cultures, and disciplines. I started with a BTech in Food Technology (Engineering honours degree), then pursued the Erasmus Mundus Danube AgriFood Master’s programme in sustainable agriculture and food systems, experiences that deepened both my technical expertise and global perspective.
Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of working with international development partners as a Youth Ambassador for the Asian Development Bank’s Asia and Pacific Youth Symposium, where I moderated panel discussions alongside UNICEF and Plan International representatives, amplifying youth voices in climate and food policy dialogues.
I’m also the founder of Food+ (formerly Quickfoodtech), a platform dedicated to blending food science, sustainability, and storytelling — hosting webinars, workshops, and community events that explore how innovation can transform food systems.
Public speaking, mentoring, and student engagement have become some of my most meaningful roles. I’ve spoken honestly about the challenges and triumphs of pursuing international education and career paths and have mentored students in research, career planning, and interdisciplinary exploration.

Som absolvent bakalárskej Syntézy a výroby léčiv (2021) a magisterského Chemického inženýrství a bioinženýrství (2023). Prešiel som si organickou syntézou na bakalárke (#flavíny), analytikou solid statu na stáži v Belgicku (#janssen) a farmaceutickým inžinierstvom na diplomke (#chobotix). 
Prednášky a laborka mi však nikdy nestačili – väčšinu štúdia som strávil v spolku Tutoři a dva roky som ho viedol, zapájal som sa v K3S, spoluzakladal SK VŠCHT Chemie, jazdil po seznamovákoch a počas covidu organizoval prvý eSports turnaj.
Tieto skúsenosti boli kľúčové pre moje ďalšie smerovanie – mimo chémiu. Po škole som zmenil odbor, ľudí okolo a na chvíľu aj mesto. Najskôr som ako „detektív“ neplánovaných odstávok optimalizoval výrobu pracieho prášku. Dnes vediem celú výrobnú linku, kde zlaďujem potreby operátorov pri linke a šéfov o poschodie vyššie; starám sa tak, aby výroba bežala bezpečne, kvalitne a spoľahlivo.
Zároveň viem, že život mladého dospelého vie byť intenzívny, frustrujúco vyčerpávajúci až letargický (prešiel som si tým). Nemusí ale byť; tak pokiaľ na to príde, rád budem zdieľať myšlienky aj z tohto súdka.

Profesně působím jako zástupkyně ředitele pro teoretickou výuku na střední škole a angažuji se také jako metodička a lektorka NPI ČR i lektorka studia pedagogiky. Vystudovala jsem Chemii a technologii ochrany životního prostředí na Chemické fakultě VUT v Brně, dále jsem pokračovala ve studiích v rámci doktorského studijního programu Hygiena, preventivní lékařství a epidemiologie na Lékařské fakultě Masarykovy univerzity v Brně. Následně jsem realizovala studium anglického jazyka na pedagogické a filozofické fakultě a MBA studium na unviverzitě University of St. Francis v Chicagu.

Jsem Radek Nesiba a chemii učím cca 15 let – a stále mě to baví! Začínal jsem na základní škole a v současnosti působím (už desátým rokem) na gymnáziu.

Při výuce se snažím, aby studenti dané učivo pochopili (aspoň v rámci svých možností), dokázali své znalosti propojovat a uvědomovali si souvislosti dané látky s jinými kapitolami chemie (a ideálně i s jinými obory přírodních věd). Pokouším se učit tak, aby to pro studenty bylo atraktivní a zajímavé.

Petra vystudovala organickou technologii na Vysoké škole chemicko-technologické v Praze. Už během studia se aktivně zapojovala do univerzitního dění – působila v akademickém senátu, Studentské komoře Rady vysokých škol a věnovala se také zahraničním stážistům prostřednictvím organizace IAESTE. Možná právě díky tomu se její profesní dráha vydala směrem ke komunikaci a popularizaci vědy.
Na Oddělení komunikace VŠCHT Praha působila více než 20 let. Stála u zrodu a rozvoje mnoha stěžejních popularizačních aktivit, jako jsou Hodina moderní chemie nebo VědaFest. Díky svému průmyslovému zaměření studia měla blízko i k potřebám partnerských firem, podílela se na administraci studentských společenských grantů, pomáhala řešitelům s jejich plánováním a prováděním, byla aktivní součástí programu Study in Prague, který podporuje nábor zahraničních studentů.
Na podzim roku 2023 do jejího života vstoupila rakovina prsu. Nemoc ji přiměla zvolnit tempo a změnit pracovní prostředí. Po úspěšné léčbě se Petra rozhodla své zkušenosti zúročit jinak – jako mentorka studentů. Chce jim pomáhat zvládat studium, organizovat akce, hledat práci, která je bude bavit a naplňovat, a podporovat je v obtížných životních situacích.
A proč „Belliska“? Bellis je pacientský projekt mladých žen s rakovinou prsu, jehož je Petra součástí. „Absolvovala jsem desítky veletrhů a stovkám studentů pomohla vybrat školu, a tak mi přijde přirozené, že se dnes věnuji také osvětě o samovyšetření prsu. Proto máme stánek i na Hanami. Kdybych díky tomu pomohla jediné mladé ženě objevit zhoubnou bulku včas, stálo to za to. Rakovina prsu postihne každou osmou ženu, ale když se na ni přijde brzo, zůstane jen nepříjemnou vzpomínkou,“ dodává Petra.

Olga vystudovala biochemii na Univerzitě Palackého v Olomouci, a během zahraničního výměnného pobytu v Nizozemí se věnovala i studiu programu Biotechnologie. Začala doučováním, zakládáním studijních skupin a výukou chemie v soukromých firmách, které vyústily v projekt Olinium, spojující výuku chemie a popularizaci vědy prostřednictvím moderních online marketingových přístupů. Specializuje se na přípravu studentů na studium medicíny a přírodovědných oborů, přičemž využívá sociální sítě, edukativní videa a své vlastní přípravné kurzy chemie.

Klade důraz na osobní přístup ke studentům, trpělivost a motivaci, aby dosáhli svých cílů.

Můj nejšťastnější den jako dítě se stal, když pan-čelka ze školky svolila, že vezmu část třídy k nám domů a já jsem mohl všem půjčit hračky a zorganizovat to tak, aby se všichni bavili. Na pískovišti jsem organizoval stavbu hradů z písku a vyjednával použití plastové tatry pro konstrukční účely (místo marnotratného vození se). Nic moc se nezměnilo. Rád buduju, dávám dohromady lidi a zdroje, aby vznikaly vyšší celky, které odvádí novou, netušenou práci, službu nebo zážitky.

Vedl jsem spolky, pracovní i zájmové týmy. Nejlépe se mi pracuje ve skupině do 10 lidí, ale vedl jsem také Psy-High – své 4dílné, téměř týdenní festivalové dítě v zatopeném lomu – o 15 „důstojnících“ a 300 dobrovolnících. Nejraději stavím věci na zelené louce. V různých kolektivech jsem mimo jiné stavěl: studentskou televizi, VŠ poradenské centrum, nové nastavení vnitřní komunity VŠ, koncepci sociálních sítí, akce, festivaly, nezávislé vydavatelství – nejrůznější vinyly, kazety atd., v neposlední řadě i trampskou osadu a spoustu hezkých míst v přírodě (vyhlídky, kempy, prostory, …). Miluju focení, mezi mé hrdiny patří váleční fotožurnalisti jako je Patrick Chauvel a další.

Odjakživa dělám mnoho věcí paralelně. Vím, jaké to je být frustrovaný/á z toho, že v ničem nejsi expert, ale umíš od všeho trochu – a umím tě ubezpečit, že se to nakonec vyplatí.

Mám rád historii a spoustu nejrůznějších oborů, baví mě rozvést věci do širšího/vyššího rámce, spoustu let se zcitlivuji hledáním přesahů. Moc rád s tebou budu hledat nové perspektivy, které ukážou banální věci jako zajímavé, složité věci jako uchopitelné. Pro bezvýchodné uličky najdeme inspiraci v netušených zdrojích, od alchymie, přes vojevůdce historie až po antropologii, techniku, …

Honza took a roundabout route to studying at the University of Chemistry and Technology, even though chemistry had been with him since elementary school. He eventually chose crystal chemistry for his master's degree and then crystallography for his doctoral studies. While learning the "craft" of X-ray structural analysis at the University of Chemistry and Technology, he looked for techniques that could reveal the structure of a given substance in a form other than a perfect crystal. At that time, he received an offer to work after his doctorate in an NMR laboratory at one of the institutes of the Academy of Sciences. Since then, crystal structures have remained just a hobby, and for 20 years he has devoted himself fully to the analysis of organic substances using NMR spectroscopy. He gradually developed a taste for analyzing complex mixtures, such as reaction mixtures, extracts of natural substances, and biological matrices. Since 2023, he has been working again at the University of Chemistry and Technology, where he is trying to create a team that would focus on NMR metabolomics as a diagnostic method.
 
During his 20 years at the Academy of Sciences, he has held positions ranging from inexperienced postdoc, researcher, head of the scientific department, to deputy director. At the University of Chemistry and Technology, he supervised student work at all levels in the fields of organic chemistry, organic technology, and analytical chemistry. In 2016, he and his colleagues went through the ordeal of establishing a spin-off company in an academic environment. Their company, which focuses on the isolation of cannabinoids from cannabis, obtained a SÚKL certificate for the production of medicinal substances this year.

He became familiar with mentoring during his time as a visiting professor at Graz University of Technology in Austria. "I think it's right to share my experience with the next generation. A push in the right direction can save a lot of time, wasted effort, and, last but not least, disappointment."

Viktor started out as a salesman in an analytical laboratory, where his daily routine consisted of calling customers from a list and seeking orders. He gradually worked his way up to become the company's director. After eight years, he decided it was time for a change and left to join Tesla Hloubětín, where he spent a year managing an independent water treatment plant. This was followed by a move outside the field—he spent three years at a container manufacturing company—but eventually returned to chemistry. He realized that he wanted to stay in the field: "People have a tendency to belittle what they learned in school. Often, you don't remember a lot of things, but somewhere in the back of your mind, the connections are there. You know the environment, you meet people you had at school, and somehow it all fits together." Through his position as a distributor of laboratory chemicals, he joined Synthesia, where he worked as a production plant manager, and eventually Brenntag, where he still works as an executive.
 
He sees nothing wrong with changing jobs or even venturing outside his field. People shouldn't be afraid of change; if something about their current position or company doesn't suit them, they should explore other options and discover their potential. On the other hand, he points out that it's good to be able to describe the reasons for these changes, which someone might read about in your CV, and turn them to your advantage.

He likes his current position because every day brings new challenges and knowledge. He says that he is not a "great scientist" and does not want to know every detail of a single field. On the contrary, he likes to have a horizontal overview of many things and connect them, finding connections. At Brenntag, he combines chemistry, technology, and business. In addition, he also deals with personnel and administrative matters.
 
He sees mentoring as an opportunity to further promote chemistry, even among people who are already studying it. "Students should know that chemistry is not just laboratory work and scientific activity. It is also business or manufacturing; in short, it can be applied in all areas of human activity." Viktor is a member of the board of the Chemical Industry Association and vice president of the Chemical Traders Association, and he sees the promotion of chemistry as his duty. He is happy to support people with a genuine interest and, in return, learn something about the current generation of students and young employees—what their priorities and expectations are, which he sees as important input for the further development of the field and job positions.

Lenka graduated from a Waldorf school, which has a specific approach to education, and through her studies she became interested in working with people. At the same time, she always wanted to be connected to nature and animals, so she decided to enroll at the University of Chemistry and Technology with the aim of understanding chemistry and the basic relationships in nature so that one day she could work for the good of both people and animals. During her studies at the University of Chemistry and Technology, Lenka was an active member of the IAESTE association. Thanks to her work in the association, she realized that she enjoyed leading a team, working in an international environment, and that she believed in education. She began to form her vision here—to create opportunities for people to learn. 
 
As a graduate of a chemistry school, Lenka began working for a start-up and then for the American company CEA Prague, where she helped students who came to the Czech Republic find internships in the field and acted as a mentor. In 2019, she applied for and was hired as the director of the non-governmental non-profit organization INEX-SDA. INEX-SDA is involved in international volunteering and intercultural education. Lenka's work as director was divided into three main sections: the first was HR, i.e., employee care, followed by strategic management of the organization, and finally securing funding, which involved seeking grants and administering them. Lenka then founded a non-profit organization. She currently manages the finances of a neuroscience research project, where, given the novelty of the project, she devises and designs most of the systems herself.

For Lenka, inspiration is the greatest value that guides her in life. "I think mentoring is all about letting yourself be inspired. I admire when people have the will to develop themselves; I think it's very important. And when a person is willing to draw on the experience and knowledge of someone else, they can be inspired."

My career path has taken me from managing the CTU UCEEB research institute to founding EnviTrail, where, as CTO, I deal with ESG and carbon footprint calculations for small and large clients such as ČSOB, the PPF Group, and Škoda Auto. I have experience in team leadership and complex project management, and my work also requires a broad view of energy, the environment, and the academic world. 
 
For me, mentoring means openly sharing knowledge and experience, but also listening and understanding your goals and challenges. Together, we can explore your career options, work on developing your skills, and create strategies to achieve your academic and professional goals. I approach mentoring with respect and openness, which means that your topics and questions always come first. Whether it's specific advice on energy and sustainability, navigating the academic world, or leading teams, I'm here to help you find your way. 
 
We plan to meet in person regularly, every three to six weeks, depending on what works best for you. I also enjoy working on practical projects or "homework assignments" that can help you learn something about yourself, gain new skills, or learn something new. Outside of the professional world, I enjoy music, skiing, astronomy, and evolutionary biology, which are areas that not only bring me joy but also new perspectives that I can share through mentoring. I look forward to meeting you and discovering together where your journey will take you.

Martin got into his current job through photography and graphic design. He was interested in how images are created, what happens in the background, and how we can manipulate them on a computer. He studied computer science at the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague, and today he works in signal and image processing, mainly in the field of medicine. For example, he is currently developing software for hospitals to evaluate CT data, which will enable the estimation of the percentage of lung involvement by coronavirus. At the same time, he also works at the open access microscopy workplace at the Faculty of Science, Charles University, and at the NTK, where he helps with the introduction of Open Science in Czech science. Through his position at the NTK, he can constantly learn new trends in data management and pass them on, including in his teaching activities at the University of Chemistry and Technology.

After starting college, Martin felt that many things were missing, so he began to get involved wherever he could to help get things moving. He rose to the position of student president of the academic senate and joined several student associations. "I got used to having some kind of fulfillment, and all those extra activities also gave me the space to find out what I enjoy and what I'm good at. At some point, you get to a point where you're doing a lot of things and enjoying them, and you want to start getting paid for them. Then you have to force yourself to find out what makes you different from others and who might pay you for it." As a mentor, Martin would like to help students learn to take a broader view of the field they are involved in. He can advise them on which areas outside their study program to focus on. Moreover, he himself missed a similar program when he was studying at the University of Chemistry and Technology.

Nikola has always enjoyed natural sciences, and since she was most interested in applied biology, she chose to study molecular biology and biochemistry at Charles University. Although she successfully completed her master's degree, she found that research work did not fully satisfy her. During her studies, she worked several part-time jobs and eventually started her own company focused on cleaning carpets and upholstery. At first, she visited customers herself, but over time she became more involved in the running and management of the entire company. As she herself says, she really enjoyed the work, mainly because she was able to organize her own time.
 
As part of a mentoring program at Charles University, she came across MEDICEM, a company that manufactured intraocular lenses. "I was such an annoying student, always asking what I should do, and I always did the assigned task quickly and wanted the next one right away. And so, in the end, they offered me a job." Given that the then manager of the development team had a vision of switching to agile project management, she offered Nikola the job of Scrum master. Nikola was in charge of the agile transformation of the entire project development. "It seems to me that project management is not about knowledge—that you get a certificate and then you know how to do it and can do it. Every team is different and every situation is different; it's more about empathy and experience." Nikola had a wealth of experience in both the laboratory and development fields, as well as in management and people coordination, and was therefore able to combine these areas.

However, Nikola was also interested in education in the field of project management, so she studied for a master's degree in Project Management of Innovation in Business at the Czech Technical University in Prague while working. Nikola also devoted herself to agile management as a consultant and external coach, where she tried to create solutions that would suit the needs of specific companies. But because she lacked a long-term goal in this field, she began working as a Scrum master at BTL Medical Technologies, where she still works today.
 
During her career and studies, Nikola also started a family and is raising three children. As a mentor, she would like to offer students what she has learned throughout her life. "It seems to me that young people are often overwhelmed by possibilities or want to fulfill the expectations of others. To be truly happy, a person should do what they enjoy. I know this is easy to say but difficult to do, and that's where I'd like to help."

During her first four years at the University of Chemistry and Technology, Terezie focused solely on her studies. She graduated with honors with a bachelor's degree. But what good did that do her? All she had was a nice photo from her graduation. During her master's studies, she decided that university was not just about exams and began to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the school. She participated in the ATHENS program and went to Serbia for a two-month IAESTE internship. Immediately afterwards, she went to Hamburg for 11 months, where she worked on her thesis in Dr. Willmans' group at EMBL. There she realized that science is great and she wants to pursue a doctorate. After six months of searching, she found Dr. Jiráček's laboratory at UOCHB, where she successfully completed her doctorate after 4.5 years. 
 
During her PhD, she realized that it is necessary not only to do science, but also to popularize it. That is why she became involved in mentoring high school students in a club at the University of Chemistry and Technology and mentoring high school students in the laboratory at her workplace. She also began to actively participate in popularization events organized by UOCHB. The highlight of pushing her personal boundaries was her participation in the FameLab 2022 competition. She did not lose her nervousness in front of the audience, but the audience did not seem to notice when they awarded her the Audience Award. 

She worked as a postdoc in Zuzana Kečkéšová's group at UOCHB. In addition to popularizing science, Terezie found another passion in organizing events such as lab retreats and workshops on non-academic job opportunities. She is currently actively involved in organizing monthly career lectures for postdocs. She is currently a postdoc at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, where she is involved in malaria research and drug discovery activities.
