Summary:
We are looking for candidate with completed studies (preferably master and PhD) in chemistry, engineering or related technical field for a short to mid-term (6 months - 1 year) employment based at the Laboratory of Food Process Engineering at ETH Zurich.
Job description:
The candidate will be in charge of experimental trials on laboratory and pilot plant scale (high-pressure technology, extrusion) producing foam samples made with gas hydrates and characterising them. The job is embedded in a multidisciplinary rapidly growing project. The project is in the visionary stage, where new aspects are being explored and adapted on a regular basis. It is expected that the candidate demonstrates an entrepreneurial mindset and is able to work in a visionary creative manner.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for cutting edge research and application of novel foamed
materials using gas hydrates as a foaming agent. Preparation and testing of samples made from selected materials on laboratory and pilot-plant scale. Work closely with other research fellows on reporting and data interpretation. The candidate will also be involved in meetings with stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Creative mind, developing novel methodologies
- Work with high-pressure or gases is a plus
- Good knowledge in data analysis and interpretation (excel, matlab, R or other)
- Organizing and executing research plans
- Studied a field in chemistry, engineering, material science or related
- Knowledge in polymer chemistry and material science is a plus
- Team player
- Good soft skills are a plus (experience with supervision, good communication)
