Martin Štípala
Ph.D. student in the Laboratory of Biophysics
- Are you passionate about cutting-edge biophysical research? Join the Laboratory of Biophysics at the Department of Optical and Biophysical Systems, Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences! We are dedicated to unraveling how physical factors, such as novel nanomaterials and mechanical forces within the cell microenvironment, impact cellular machinery.
- Our current research focuses on “The impact of extracellular mechanical cues on interactions between DNA nanostructures and hepatic cells.” DNA nanotechnology has revolutionized the creation of novel composite materials with diverse applications in biomedicine. To bridge the gap between these innovations and their real-world applications, it is crucial to understand how DNA nanostructures interact with living cells and the subsequent effects of these interactions. Our goal is to explore the molecular and biophysical mechanisms that influence the uptake and processing of DNA nanostructures by cells under external mechanical forces. We will investigate the cellular processing of these nanostructures, including their transport mechanisms, organelle interactions, and degradation pathways.
