Mentoring

Mentoring will help you with your career and personal development

The mentoring program offers you the opportunity to build an informal relationship with a more experienced professional and take a step forward on your journey. The collaboration is long-term, has no fixed structure, and each mentee (student, graduate, or employee) sets their own basic goals according to their individual needs. These goals may relate to their studies, career, or personal life.

There are two mentoring programs at UCT, Prague:

  • For bachelor's and master's degree students
  • For doctoral students, graduates, and employees

Who is a mentor?

A mentor is someone who has experience in a given field and passes it on to their mentee. Ideally, they should work at a different institution than the one where the mentee studies or works. It is often a good idea to find an expert in a field that the mentee does not understand very well. This opens up a unique opportunity for them to gain a better understanding of a related field or other issues that could be useful to them—for example, in the commercialization of a scientific project.

Become a mentor

The role of mentor offers you the opportunity to recognize your expertise and learn how to pass it on to less experienced students or early-career researchers (mentees).

You yourself can learn a lot from your mentee.

Mentoring is highly flexible; we take your busy schedules into account and arrange the concept of meetings with mentees in a way so that you can control the timing, format, and frequency of the meetings yourself.

As part of mentoring networking, you have the opportunity to meet like-minded people from a wide range of professional fields at joint events. Would you like to learn more about the program? Please contact Zuzana Jalovcová, the program coordinator, directly.
