Štěpán already knew during his law studies, which he successfully completed, that he did not want to pursue this field in his professional life. However, it was more by chance that he started a company in the food industry. 14 years ago, he travelled the world, tasted hummus for the first time during a visit to Israel, and was completely enchanted by this food. When he returned home, he discovered that this delicacy was not available on the Czech market, which gave him the idea to start a business in this area. After a short analysis, he decided that it would be best to start producing and supplying hummus to shops. Since he knew nothing about food production, he locked himself in the library for three months and studied materials from the University of Science and Technology. He again learned about operations from friends who had their own restaurant. In 12 years, he managed to build a company with a turnover of about 40 million a year with operations in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Austria and Germany.

"If I had known then what was in store for me, I wouldn't have gone for it. That was the so-called fool's trick, the sweet ignorance. You have your vision, but you can't think it through properly without relevant experience. Then difficult situations come up and those around you tell you they don't have a solution because they already have that professional blindness, but they haven't even tried." In the beginning, Štěpán worked even 12 hours a day, and because he planned his start poorly financially, he found himself, for example, eating only hummus and pastries for three months.  Even though he hit rock bottom, he remembers this period fondly. "I absolutely love the moments when you go through a skeletal period and at the end you reap the fruits and you think - I made it."

Stepan now runs the company mainly financially and strategically. He thinks about where he wants the company to be in a year, in ten years. At the same time, he still enjoys presenting the company, showing people what they do and how they do it. He is still learning how to work with people, motivate them and supervise their work. For him, mentoring is mainly a process of learning and personal growth.
