What can I help my mentee with?
|
The first important work experience for Jaroslav was a part-time job at McDonald's. He would recommend everyone try such a job. What he took away from it was the knowledge that the company's processes can be devised almost to perfection in order to make them as fast, safe and functional as possible. He graduated from UCT Prague and, as he says about himself, was not one of the best students. However, the university gave him the important ability to think analytically. He still uses this skill in his work. Jaroslav knew that he wanted to work on his thesis in cooperation with a business. He collaborated with the company Neox, for which he designed a business continuity plan that the company still uses today.
After graduation, he first started working at Deloitte in the audit department where he worked on inspections in companies in various industries across the country. After more than two years, he changed departments and spent the next three years doing due diligence on the purchase and sale of companies. A period of change followed both in his professional and personal life, and after five months off work, Jaroslav joined Johnson & Johnson where he started again almost from scratch as a senior financial auditor. Beyond his position, he was also involved in internal training in which he was trained in various areas to become a lecturer and to lead workshops for other employees. Thanks to this extra activity, Jaroslav is currently starting a new position as an Internal Audit Manager for EMEA.
And why does Jaroslav want to join the mentoring programme? "I have been very lucky in my life, but at the same time I have never been afraid to go for it. It's important not to be afraid to ask people for help because they usually agree. Now I would like to give back to the world."
