Jiří is a determined scientist eager to uncover the secrets of the fundamental foundations of science and life. Thanks to his ability to set a clear vision and path to success, practical approach to things and his tenacity, there is no problem that would prove to be too challenging for him. 

His journey through academic life began with his studies at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, where he first obtained a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Food Technology, followed by a master's degree in Biology and Microbiology. During his master's studies at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, he spent two semesters at the University of Regensburg, Germany. Living abroad has opened his horizons, gave him new opportunities and he has gained a lot of experience with academic work outside the Czech Republic, which he would like to pass on to his mentees. 

After that, his functioning abroad was not over – his doctoral studies took place at the University of Vienna in the field of Structural Biology, where he wrote his doctoral thesis, which recieved great success and was published in the Nature journal. 

During the pandemic, which unfortunately struck during his doctoral studies, Jiří once again proved that he is a truly steadfast and persistent scientist willing to face any problem head-on – in 2020, he volunteered to help in a diagnostic laboratory. 

After completing his doctorate, Jiří took up his current position as a research scientist at the Faculty of Structural and Systems Biology at the University of Hamburg, Germany, where he continues to explore the topic he developed in his doctoral thesis in depth.  

Above all, Jiří would like to pass on to his mentees his innumerable experience and advice on how to live abroad. His scientific motivation is fueled by a curiosity about fundamental mechanisms of the world.
