Augmented reality & virtual reality

Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) connect the digital and physical worlds. They allow you to experience information and content visually in the same way you experience the world. AR greatly expands the ways our devices can help us in everyday activities such as finding information, shopping and expressing ourselves. VR, in turn, allows us to experience what it's like to go anywhere - from the front row at a concert to distant planets in space.

What is the future of VR and AR, who are the industry leaders and is it worth investing in virtual and augmented reality?

Lecturer: Thomas De Bruyne

Date: 17 October 2023 from 16:00 to 19:00; during the event there will be an opportunity to try out AR and VR

Build your personal brand!

In today's world, we need to be able to sell ourselves well - our skills and talents. That's why today not only entrepreneurs, but also employees and job seekers are building their personal brand. It sends a clear message to the world about who they are, what they can do and where they are going. Then they use it to get a good job, develop their career or go into business.

The workshop will give you practical tips on how to find out what you have to offer and how to make a good strategy for promoting yourself. And how to use it all in creating a unique CV, editing your LinkedIn profile, or the way you present yourself at a job interview.

In many multinational companies, further work on your personal brand is now a must. It can be very useful when you get promoted to a higher position or get the opportunity to work on an interesting project. Come and think about what makes you unique and how to communicate this to others.

How to get along with a boss a generation older

At work, you are likely to meet people who are significantly older than you and will be your superiors. They will try to guide you, motivate you, evaluate you... and they may not fully understand you, or you them. It is said that the gap between generations is now widening thanks to the development of technology and new technologies, and in practice this is often borne out. This is due to the fact that the world is changing very rapidly and our views and beliefs are largely shaped by the times we grew up in. People 20 (or more) years older than you see the world very differently.

Let's talk about how these worlds are generally different, and together we'll figure out what to do to build bridges between them - how to get along better, get along better together. There will also be space for practical practice and "acting out" situations if you wish.

How to "sell" your SVK

It is said that you become a master when you have accumulated 10,000 hours or served 10 years in a given field. Most of us start speaking around the first year of life, so we should all be masters of speaking before entering high school. So, how is it that we are still afraid to speak in public after 10 years? And why isn't the same thing happening to us when it comes to telling stories in Carbone? Does the presentation of results always have to be bland and austere, or can it be done in other ways?

The basics of storytelling and effective communication, using body language or overcoming fear and stage fright. All this will be discussed in the workshop, which will be followed by a presentation consultation for SVK.

Lecturer. Ing. Václav Bystrianský

Date: 6 November 2023 from 14:00

Freshman, sophomore behind you: figure out where you're going

The moment you've done a bit of research at university, it's a good time to start taking the first steps towards your future career. If you leave all this until after you graduate, you'll probably find that your better-prepared classmates have passed you by. Or you may find out quite late that you're missing something essential to getting your dream job.

We'll talk about how to think about your future career, how to choose a field or environment in which you'll thrive, and how to gradually build a good foundation for a successful leap into practice. We'll also talk about part-time jobs during your studies and what you're most likely to say to a future employer on your CV or at interview.
